Everything it does, and what it refuses.

The whole list, including the parts that are deliberately missing.

Watch it work

Dictation

Push to talk, on your key

Hold, speak, release. Fn, Right Command or Right Option, picked once.

Continuous mode

Key plus Space. Enter injects, Escape discards. For paragraphs, not sentences.

Say a list, get a list

Say "as follows" before the items. Without the marker, nothing changes. English only for now.

Adaptive silence

Stops when you stop talking, not on a timer. Read from the room's noise floor.

Quiet speech and whispers

Silence trimmed, audio normalised, so a whisper is not read as nothing.

Text at your cursor, in any app

Accessibility API where it exists, keystrokes or clipboard where it does not.

Mid-sentence awareness

No stray capital or full stop mid-sentence, where macOS exposes the context.

Runaway guards

A repetition filter drops looped audio instead of injecting nonsense. Holds commit at sixty seconds.

Your words

Raw or Clean

Raw is verbatim. Clean drops fillers and fixes punctuation. Neither rewrites your sentences.

Your own filler list

Add or remove the words you want dropped. Picked up live.

Vocabulary

Teach it the names it keeps missing. Casing fixed, split compounds fused.

Snippets

A trigger said on its own expands. Exact match only.

Numbers as numerals

Spoken numbers, times and dates come out as digits.

Copy the last transcript

One menu-bar item, for when the text landed in the wrong window.

Languages and engines

Four language modes

English, Indian, Tanglish, Hinglish. The last three are tightened for code-switched speech.

Romanized, not transliterated

Code-switched speech comes back the way you would type it, in Latin script.

Speed or accuracy

One priority, not a model picker. Speed is English only; accuracy handles the rest.

Sized to your Mac

The model tier is read from your memory, once. Mode switches download in the background.

Privacy

Captured, transcribed, discarded. Only your settings reach the disk. No analytics, no crash reporter, no install identifier. Never built, not switched off. A release check, a daily update check, your licence key, the one-time model download. No Input Monitoring, no Screen Recording. Microphone and Accessibility, granted once. The trial is a date on your disk. Only the checkout asks for an address.

Living with it

The ink drop is the interface

A dot that breathes while you speak and bleeds red on error. No panels, no notifications.

Menu bar

Today's word count, the pickers, and a pause switch for when you need the key back.

Usage, locally

Seven days of words and time saved, kept on your Mac.

Setup you see once

Nine screens, the two permissions, and a re-run from Settings if you want it again.

Updates you approve

A signed feed and a verified download. Nothing installs itself.

Seven days, then once

No email, no card, then a three day grace period. A lifetime licence is {{ price }}{{ priceClause }}.

What it needs

Apple Silicon, M1 or later. macOS 13 Ventura or later. Developed on an M4; earlier chips should be fine. 8 GB of memory is workable, 16 GB is recommended. The app is about 180 MB, plus one speech model between roughly 0.5 and 3 GB, downloaded once. Microphone, and Accessibility so text can land at your cursor. Both granted once, in System Settings, during setup.

What ploca deliberately does not do

  • Cloud models. Not at any tier.
  • Rewriting your words. What you said is what appears.
  • Per-app modes. The defaults are the product.
  • Always-on listening. Push to talk is deliberate.
  • Native Tamil and Devanagari script. Romanized output for now.
  • Windows, Intel Macs, mobile. One platform, done well.
